Bankruptcy and the Lottery
Wednesday, February 21, 2007
I was preparing for my bankruptcy class when the following thought occurred to me:
"People who are smart enough to spend lottery winnings, are too smart to play the lottery."
For instance: having not bought even a single one lottery ticket every week since I was 18 at $5 per ticket has netted me $2080 (figuring through my birthday next month.)
I only have to hold off until I am 56, not unheard of these days, to net $10,000, a sum that otherwise would be a near impossibility if I played the lottery.
Yes, i am a hypocrit. I've played scratch games and gambled. But so far, I am making it up by not playing Lotto.
Discuss amongst yourselves.
